Choose your subwoofer and amplifier that best meet your personal
music interests, sound preference, style and budget. Determine
the volume of your subwoofer through given set of guidelines
that come with your subwoofer. Identify which volume works best
for your subwoofer. Designing your custom subwoofer box must
depend on which area of your car do you want it be placed.
Next, get the measurement of your preferred area
where you want to mount your subwoofer box. This is essential
so as not to exceed the dimension of the possible mounting location.
Determine the cubic volume of each possible enclosure by multiplying
the width by height by depth and then dividing by 1728 (w*h*depth/
1728).
Cut your fibreboard to make separate pieces of
your custom fibreglass subwoofer box. Cut the opening for the
subwoofer in the front panel and make a hole in the side of
your box near the amplifier for the speaker terminal cup. There
are subwoofers with ready made templates for you to pattern
the hole of your subwoofer. Use carpenters wood glue and wood
screws to assemble the cut pieces of wood or fibreboard to your
box.
Make the inside of the box airtight. Cut the subwoofer
box carpet and paste it into the box using hot glue. Connect
the internal wiring and speaker terminal cup to the subwoofer.
Place the subwoofer upon the opening of the subwoofer box. Enjoy
playing your favorite music and crank that beat with your custom
subwoofer box handcrafted on your own.
Things to Remember: Make sure
that the custom subwoofer boxes are fitted properly in the car.
Improper installation can create rattling noise, poor sound
quality, vibrations, distortion and damage to the subwoofer
and its components. Always start the work with a proper design
and specific requirements. Proper care and learning on how to
create them on your own can prevent damages and irritating noises.
